THEATRE OF THUNDER
Sonic-performance-installation.
THEATRE OF THUNDER is sonic-performance-installation ensemble based in Brisbane, co-directed by Luke Jaaniste and Megan Janet White drawing on a team of a dozen sound, space and movement makers. TOT present performance rituals, weird parties, pop up actions and communal workshops, working in shadowy, disintegrating, in-between and unbounded spaces, both indoors and outside. TOT intertwines Butoh dance with immersive sound and atmospheric landscape. Raw and ambient sounds propel strangely-costumed bodies into a state of poetic rupture and transmutation. To date, TOT has carried out creative development and presentation projects in a range of places and sites in South East Queensland, including: Metro Arts, Yonder, Matt50, Kulcha Jam / Wild Echoes, Anywhere Theatre Festival, The Qube Effect and sites along Brisbane River. In Oct-Nov 2016, they are supporting the Brisbane tour of international Butoh master Kan Katsura.
