LUMINESCENCE
Musician/Band
Luminescence is a Brisbane-based string group exploring the spaces between contemporary, classical and experimental performance. The group is made up of two cellists (Emma Hales and Anitah Kumar) and two violinists (Liz Young and Toukie Wood) who occasionally dabble in some flute and piano too.
Luminescence are constantly innovating with each performance through interdisciplinary collaborations; visual design; audience interaction; and a breathtaking program of contemporary music, showcasing internationally acclaimed composers, Brisbane’s own creative talents and genre-bending originals.
Since coming together in 2018, Luminescence have worked on projects with a spectrum of creatives – from visual artist and designer, Chris Mangos, to indie-psych outfit, The Jensens – and have joined the line ups of Jungle Love Festival, Brisbane Street Art Festival, GOMA Up Late, Yonder Festival and Anywhere Festival.
