BENJAMIN SIBON

Mixed Media Artist & Curator

Wool tapestry on Timber My new Sens piece is a massive departure from previous aerosol work and indicates a major shift for me and my life. It illustrates a re-emergence for me as a neurodivergent creative with strong connection to my upbringing in Papua New Guinea and the culture of graffiti which has remained a constant strand of inquiry since it’s inception in this country.

Benjamin Sibon is an Australian mixed-media artist.

His work has been featured in productions both in Australia
and internationally from large scale graffiti murals to music
and film production.

An early childhood in Papua New Guinea impressed upon
him a strong fascination for traditional approaches to mark-
making, which combined with his graffiti driven pieces, have
found a combined place of resolution in his current rugs and
tapestries. His current focus on textile artistry represents a
unique coming together of cultural influence and personal
evolution.
