Seanchoíche
PRONOUNCED: ‘SHANNA-KEY-HUH’
SEANCHOÍCHE is an opportunity to unpack. To come to terms with scars that accompany a personal experience, to gain some closure, to feel something deeper by laughing things out, crying things out, while talking things out. Among all those things, magic is born.
SEANCHOÍCHE is a safe space, it’s an event filled with empathy, catharsis, laughter, tears and joy. For some people, it’s their first time ever speaking in front of a crowd, which makes it even more meaningful and memorable for them. For others, it’s an opportunity to try out their creative juices, and see how a crowd reacts to their story, their comedy, their poetry, or their spoken word.
Seanchoíche (pronounced Shanna-Key-Huh) our storytelling night founded is Dublin is super excited to be heading to Brisbane for the first time in February! The event will be taking place on Thursday February 1st at 7.30pm @ Superordinary, 175 MacArthur Ave, Hamilton.
The idea is that you come to the event if you want to hear a good story. You can come just to listen and be a spectator, or if you feel like telling a story, you can volunteer to do so.
The theme of the night is ‘LOVE’. All stories told will revolve around this theme. Stories can be personal anecdotes based on your own experience, or the experience of someone in your life, they can be fictional pieces, they can be monologues, poetry or anything that you consider a story.
We will have arranged storytellers on the night, but if you get the urge to stand up and tell a story when you’re at the event on the night, you are welcome to do so. Storytellers can contact hello@seanchoiche.com to let us know they are volunteering prior to the event.
Max 2 tickets per booking.
There are no refunds available on tickets purchased.
A seanchaí is a traditional Gaelic storyteller/historian. We’re all natural born storytellers, and often underestimate the value of a good story.
‘Empathy is remembering that everybody has a story. Multiple stories.’ – Kae Tempest
Tickets are on sale Thursday 11th January at 5pm AEST – available HERE.
